Tiger Worms (Eisenia Fetida)
We breed and sell Tiger Worms for use in Worm Farms. They are closely related to the common earthworm but they have some attributes that make them more effective for composting.
Tiger Worms are a moderate sized earthworm which has a very distinctive striped appearance which is easily visible on a mature adult worm.
Tiger Worms thrive in rotting vegetation, compost and manure, which makes them ideal for composting. The gut of the worm is teeming with bacteria and enzymes with which it digests its food.
Lifecycle of Worms
Worms are ready to breed from 60-90 days old. They are bi-sexual, performing both male and female functions when mating.
After mating each worm will produce an egg, which can contain 2-20 baby worms, but average about 5.
The eggs are a small lemon coloured oval about the size of a match head and take 2-3 weeks to hatch.
Ordering Worms
To order Tiger Woms just fill out this simple form. We sell our worms by weight, and while most gardeners begin with half a kilo of worms for their Worm Farms, we also supply worm packages of 250 grams and 1 kilogram.
